Gruyere Underground Initial Drilling Results
- Initial drill results confirm quality, consistency and continuity of Gruyere ore body at depth
- Highlights include 119m at 1.10 g/t Au and 54m at 1.62 g/t Au
- Drilling program to continue over next 15 months to assess underground mining potential
Gold Road Resources has announced initial results from the Gruyere underground drilling program, which is designed to confirm that the Gruyere ore body extends at depth. The Gruyere JV, a 50:50 joint venture between Gold Road and Gold Fields, is conducting the 18-month, 60,000-metre drilling program beneath the Gruyere open pit. The initial results from 13 infill drillholes (9,478 metres) confirm the quality, consistency and continuity of the Gruyere ore body at depth, with highlights including 119 metres at 1.10 g/t Au, 54 metres at 1.62 g/t Au, and 87 metres at 0.86 g/t Au. The drilling program is targeting deeper ore zones approximately 700 metres below the final Ore Reserve pit design, as well as infill drilling within the upper 400-metre section to achieve an Indicated Mineral Resource level of confidence. Previous drill programs have identified mineralisation to a depth of 1,150 metres below the surface. The drilling program and other studies, including a scoping study by SRK Consulting, are being conducted to assess the potential for underground mining at Gruyere, which could extend the mine life well beyond 2032.
The drilling program to confirm the underground mining potential at Gruyere will continue over the next 15 months. The company is currently using four surface diamond drill rigs, with plans to increase to five rigs in the coming months.
