Encouraging gold and silver assays from Phase 2 seaweed cultivation
- Gold assays up to 123.16 mg/kg, over 8 times higher than Phase 1
- Silver assays up to 80.58 mg/kg, over 6 times higher than Phase 1
- Copper assays up to 84.33 mg/kg, almost 8 times higher than Phase 1
- Seaweed appears to be an effective absorber of minerals in polluted waters
BPH Global Ltd (ASX: BP8) has announced the latest laboratory assay results from its ongoing R&D program conducted by Temasek Innovation Holdings Pte Ltd (TPIH) and Gaia Mariculture Pte Ltd. The results show significantly higher concentrations of minerals, including gold, silver, and copper, in seaweed grown in polluted waters compared to seaweed grown in clean, pristine waters.Key findings:- Gold assays up to 123.16 mg/kg, over 8 times higher than the amount assayed in Phase 1- Silver assays up to 80.58 mg/kg, over 6 times higher than the amount assayed in Phase 1- Copper assays up to 84.33 mg/kg, almost 8 times higher than the amount assayed in Phase 1The analysis of the assay results supports the hypothesis that Sesuvium portucalastrum seaweed is an effective absorber of minerals, and that it absorbs higher concentrations of minerals when cultivated in polluted waters compared to pristine waters. The company will conduct further assays on additional batches from the Phase 2 harvest to continue testing this hypothesis. The research work on techniques for the extraction of minerals from the seaweed will also continue throughout Phase 2 of the R&D program.
The company will provide further updates regarding the Phase 2 cultivation and assays cycle and associated research and development.
