Talga Group Provides Update on Nunasvaara Mine Detailed Plan
- Swedish Government appoints County Administrative Board to prepare detailed plan for Nunasvaara South mine
- Nunasvaara South classified as a Strategic Project under EU's Critical Raw Materials Act
- Detailed plan to be submitted to Government for adoption following approval of environmental permit and mining permit
Talga Group Ltd ('Talga') provides an update on the detailed plan (zoning) process for the Nunasvaara South natural graphite mine, part of its Vittangi Anode Project in Sweden. The Swedish Government has appointed the County Administrative Board of Norrbotten ('CAB') to prepare the proposal for a detailed plan to enable mining operations at Nunasvaara South. This comes as a result of the Kiruna Municipality being unable to meet the June 16, 2025 deadline set by the Government. The CAB will now finalize the plan and submit it to the Government for adoption, pursuant to Section 16, Chapter 11 of the Planning and Building Act. This follows the approval and entering into force of the mine Environmental Permit and Exploitation Concession (Mining Permit). Additionally, Nunasvaara South is classified as of National Interest for the extraction of graphite and is a designated Strategic Project under the European Commission's Critical Raw Materials Act.
