Beetaloo Energy commences Carpentaria-5H stimulation
- Carpentaria-5H is Beetaloo Energy's longest horizontal well in the Beetaloo Basin
- Over 60 stimulation stages planned across the 3,310 metre horizontal section
- Stimulation campaign expected to take 4 weeks, followed by 30-day cleanup and soak, then 30-day production test
Beetaloo Energy has commenced the hydraulic stimulation of its Carpentaria-5H (C-5H) well in the Beetaloo Basin permit EP187. C-5H is the longest horizontal well drilled by Beetaloo Energy at 3,310 metres, with an average depth of 1,580 metres within the Velkerri B Shale. The stimulation campaign, being conducted by Halliburton, will target approximately 3,000 metres of horizontal section across over 60 stages. The stimulation is designed to optimise well productivity, incorporating increased pump rates, slickwater fluid, proppant intensity, and other enhancements compared to Beetaloo Energy's previous wells C-2H and C-3H. Following the stimulation, which is expected to take around 4 weeks, the well will undergo a 30-day cleanup and soak period, followed by a 30-day production test. Beetaloo Energy expects to release the initial 30-day (IP30) flow rate results in late Q3 2025. The Carpentaria-5H well forms part of the Carpentaria Pilot Project, which also includes the previously drilled and stimulated C-2H and C-3H wells. The pilot project aims to determine a long-term production type curve to support future development planning.
Beetaloo Energy is committed to playing a key role in providing increased gas supply to the Northern Territory market, the Australian East Coast market, and the broader region. The successful development of the Beetaloo Basin is expected to increase the reliability of Australia's energy system, put downward pressure on energy prices, and facilitate increased economic growth.
