Civmec Completes Acquisition of Luerssen Australia
- Strengthens Civmec's role in Australia's naval shipbuilding sector
- Brings Luerssen Australia's operations, workforce, and assets under full local ownership
- Luerssen Australia to be renamed to 'Civmec Defence Industries Pty Ltd'
Civmec Limited ('Civmec' or the 'Group') has completed the acquisition of 100% of the shares in Luerssen Australia Pty Ltd ('Luerssen Australia') from NVL Australia GmbH. This milestone strengthens Civmec's role in Australia's naval shipbuilding sector by bringing Luerssen Australia's operations, workforce, and assets under full local ownership. The business includes a highly skilled team with deep experience in naval shipbuilding, mature engineering and training systems, and a robust supply chain with strong local industry participation, particularly in Western Australia. These capabilities will remain in place to support the ongoing delivery of the SEA1180 Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) program. Luerssen Australia will be renamed to 'Civmec Defence Industries Pty Ltd ('CDI')' as a wholly owned subsidiary of Civmec. The acquisition was funded from Civmec's existing cash reserves. Civmec's Chairman James Fitzgerald commented that the acquisition reinforces the company's commitment to building sovereign capability and delivering comprehensive shipbuilding solutions. Civmec is well-positioned to integrate operations and unlock long-term value from the acquisition with a structured handover and ongoing technical collaboration from NVL.
