Successful Completion of Carpentaria-5H Hydraulic Stimulation
- Hydraulic stimulation successfully completed on Carpentaria-5H well in Beetaloo Basin permit EP 187
- Key metrics include 2,955 metre horizontal section, 67 stages, and over 11,000 tonnes of proppant placed
- Objectives achieved include health and safety, high pump rates, and successful logistics
Beetaloo Energy Australia Limited has announced the successful completion of the hydraulic stimulation of its Carpentaria-5H well in the Beetaloo Basin permit EP 187. The stimulation campaign was carried out by Halliburton over a 20-day period. Key metrics of the operation include a 2,955 metre (9,695 feet) horizontal section, 67 stages placed, an average fluid intensity of 52 bbl/ft, and an average proppant intensity of 2,295 lb/ft, with a total of around 11,000 tonnes of proppant (sand) placed. The company achieved its objectives, including no recordable or reportable health and safety incidents, average pump rates exceeding 100 bbl/minute on multiple stages, successful execution of the fully slickwater design with various perforation and pump strategies, and achieving over 5 stages per day on multiple days during the campaign. The logistics of the operation were also successful, with the use of an automated conveyor-based wet-proppant delivery system providing a pathway for future local sourcing. Beetaloo Energy will now undertake a coiled tubing run to clean out the well bore and initial flow back, followed by a shut-in period for soak until mid-August. Flow testing will then commence, with IP30 flow rate results expected by the end of September.
Beetaloo Energy looks forward to sharing the results of the IP30 flow test from the Carpentaria-5H well with shareholders over the coming months.
