Argosy secures 40MW energy infrastructure for Rincon Lithium Project
- 40MW energy infrastructure works agreed for Rincon Project
- EDESA to deliver engineering and feasibility works for 40MW power connection
- ~7km electric transmission line to be built to connect Rincon to national grid
Argosy Minerals Limited (ASX: AGY) has announced a significant milestone for the development of its 12,000tpa Rincon Lithium Project in Salta Province, Argentina. The company has successfully agreed with the Salta Electricity Distribution Company S.A. (EDESA) to complete detailed engineering and feasibility works to develop energy infrastructure capable of supplying up to 40MW of power to the Rincon Project. Under the arrangement, EDESA will undertake comprehensive studies for the 'Medium Voltage Line (MVL) Project,' designed to secure a reliable 33kV medium voltage power connection and deliver 40MW of energy to power the planned 12,000tpa Rincon operations and future expansion. This energy connection infrastructure program will be conducted in alignment with the neighboring Rio Tinto Rincon Project, where similar works are being arranged. Ultimately, both companies will build electric transmission lines in parallel to connect to the Altiplano sub-station and the National Power Grid, located only ~7km from the Rincon Project site. The MVL Project engineering and feasibility works are expected to be completed within ~85 days, after which Argosy will commission the construction of the transmission line and transformer facilities. During this process, Argosy will also engage with Argentine renewable energy providers to arrange Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) for the supply of renewable energy to the Rincon Project.
Securing a sustainable 40MW energy solution is a significant milestone for the development of Argosy's 12,000tpa Rincon Lithium Project. This strategic infrastructure will position the company for sustained growth and success, as access to energy is a key barrier for many lithium projects in the region. Being located only ~7km from critical energy infrastructure and the national power grid is a major advantage for the Rincon Project, minimizing development capex and leading to a more robust and economically viable operation.
