AML3D Accelerates US Expansion and Wins Navy Contract
- Official opening of US manufacturing and technology centre in Stow, Ohio
- US Navy issues Letter of Intent identifying AML3D's ARCEMY technology as pivotal to meeting MIB additive manufacturing needs
- Appointment of former US Navy program lead to AML3D USA Board strengthens US leadership
AML3D Limited, a leader in large scale Wire Additive Manufacturing (WAM) technology and 3D metal printing solutions, reported strong growth in the US market during the June 2025 quarter. The company recorded $2.9m in customer receipts, a 77% increase on the prior comparable period. The official opening of AML3D's US Technology Centre in Stow, Ohio in June 2025 was a key milestone, positioning the company to take advantage of a $150-$200 million opportunity outlined in a Letter of Intent issued by the US Department of the Navy. The LOI identifies AML3D's proprietary ARCEMY technology as 'pivotal' to the US Navy's plans to accelerate its Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) manufacturing. The appointment of Mr. Frederick J Stefany, the first Program Manager of the US Navy's MIB, to the AML3D USA Board provides the company's US leadership team with invaluable experience, insights and relationships across the US Navy and Department of Defense. AML3D has also secured contracts totaling over A$19 million, primarily with the US Navy and Navy prime suppliers, including the delivery of Virginia Class submarine tailpiece components that traditional manufacturers required 17 months to complete. The company is also exploring opportunities to support the US Army, Marine Corps and energy/utilities sectors. AML3D has allocated capital to establish a European manufacturing base to support the AUKUS defence partnership and has entered the UK defence market with a contract with BAE Systems.
AML3D reported a strong cash position of $30.4m as at 30 June 2025 to fund its US expansion and European manufacturing base establishment. The company plans to invest a further A$12 million to more than double its US manufacturing capacity and A$5 million to establish a European technology centre.
AML3D's 'US Scale Up' strategy has already delivered a surge in US Navy contracts for the deployment of ARCEMY systems and associated alloy and component testing. The company has good line of sight to near-term ARCEMY system sales to US Navy primes and strong medium to long-term demand signals from the US Navy, Marine Corps and Army. The establishment of AML3D's US manufacturing facility means the company can easily scale up to meet US defence demand and broader demand to support the AUKUS defence pact.
