Positive Ore Sorting Results at Heemskirk
- Strong ore sorting results confirm potential to upgrade feed grade and lower processing costs
- Proven XRT ore sorting technology applicable to Heemskirk with commercial scale potential
- Significant grade uplift capability of up to 1.6x with 82.4% tin recovery
Stellar Resources has completed large-scale ore sorting trials on samples from the Queen Hill deposit at its Heemskirk Tin Project, delivering excellent pre-concentration outcomes and confirming strong potential to upgrade feed grade and lower processing costs. The trials, conducted at TOMRA's advanced sorting test facility, utilized X-Ray Transmission (XRT) ore sorting technology - a well-established method already in use at the nearby Renison Tin Mine. The results showed a significant grade uplift capability, with the high-grade product stream achieving an increase from 0.91% Sn to 1.50% Sn (a 1.6x increase) by rejecting 50% of the mass while maintaining 82.4% tin recovery. By including both high and medium-grade product streams, tin recovery increased to 97.2%, with a 1.2x uplift in feed grade via 21.1% mass rejection, providing flexibility to optimize the processing strategy. Comminution testwork also confirmed that the removal of waste can reduce primary grind power requirements by up to 10%. The results support the inclusion of ore sorting in the Prefeasibility Study, offering potential benefits such as reduced plant capital and operating costs, lower tailings volumes, and improved grade blending strategies. Stellar is steadily building the technical foundation to support a capital-efficient and robust development pathway for the Heemskirk Tin Project.
The recent ore sorting trials represent a significant step forward in de-risking the processing flowsheet for Heemskirk and confirm the scalability of previous test work. The results reinforce the strong potential for meaningful uplift in head grade and reduction in costs, demonstrating that the well-established XRT ore sorting technology is applicable to the Queen Hill orebody with commercial scale potential. This data is now being incorporated into Stellar's ongoing Prefeasibility Study.
