Full Summary

The Board of Lakes Blue Energy has provided an update on the drilling operations at the Wombat-5 well, side-track-1 (ST-1), in the Gippsland Basin, Victoria. As of 8:00 am AEST this morning, the well has been drilling for 10 days and has reached a depth of 1,078 mRT (MD). However, difficulties were encountered in progressing the hole due to doglegs caused by the failure of the directional tools, which caused the well to kick off in the wrong direction and exacerbate other geological issues. To remedy the issue, a cement plug was set from 1,223 mRT to 1,014 mRT, which was then drilled down to a new kick off point at 1,050 mRT. The plug was conditioned, and the well was control drilled to ensure it successfully kicked off towards the northeast. As of 8:00 am today, the well is drilling ahead in 8-1/2' hole at a depth of 1,078 mRT along the desired directional well path towards the 7' casing point at 1,548 mRT (MD).
