Full Summary

Sky New Zealand and New Zealand Rugby (on behalf of SANZAAR Unions) have announced a renewed five-year broadcast partnership, commencing in January 2026. The agreement cements Sky as the home of rugby in Aotearoa New Zealand, delivering fans an unmatched line-up of world-class competitions and iconic tours, including new competitions and formats. Sky customers will enjoy exclusive live access to international competitions such as the Bledisloe Cup, The Rugby Championship, the new biennial 'Nations Cup' tournament, and the 2029 British & Irish Lions tour to New Zealand. They will also have access to more Black Ferns matches than ever before, including all matches from the Pacific Four Series, new September/October internationals, and the British & Irish Lions Women's tour in 2027. Additionally, Sky customers will have access to every match from Super Rugby Pacific, Super Rugby Aupiki, and Super W, as well as the National Provincial Championship (NPC), selected matches from the Farah Palmer Cup, and the finals of the Heartland Championship. To support the visibility and growth of domestic rugby, Sky and New Zealand Rugby will sublicense a selection of domestic matches to be broadcast free-to-air by TVNZ.

Guidance

Taking into account the renewed broadcast partnership with New Zealand Rugby, Sky expects that its total programming costs for the year ending 30 June 2026 (FY26) will be within its target of 47% to 49% of revenue in FY26.

Outlook

The agreement is conditional on Sky shareholder approval and is subject to final documentation. Sky will continue as the host broadcaster for all matches played in New Zealand, leveraging its live sports production expertise.
