Buxton Resources identifies new copper-silver project in Western Australia
- Buxton has applied for the Montello Cu/Ag project in the Musgrave Province of Western Australia
- Historic drilling has intersected significant copper and silver mineralization, including 3.2m at 9.02% Cu and 20.4 g/t Ag
- Exploration potential exists along strike and at depth, with modern geophysical methods to be used to define new targets
Buxton Resources Ltd (ASX: BUX & BUXO) has announced the acquisition of a new copper-silver exploration project called Montello, located in the west Musgrave Province of Western Australia. The project area covers 56 km of the Proterozoic Mission Group, which has seen significant historic drilling that confirmed the presence of copper-silver mineralization. Key highlights include 3.2m at 9.02% Cu and 20.4 g/t Ag from 73.15m downhole, and 49m @ 0.34% Cu from 39m including 6m @ 1.11% Cu & 7.7 g/t Ag from 81m. The geological setting is consistent with potential for volcanic redbed type copper deposits, of which there are several large and high-grade mining operations globally. Exploration to date has been limited to relatively shallow depths, with significant potential existing along strike and at greater depths where modern geophysical methods such as IP and airborne MT can be used to define new targets for drill testing. Buxton is currently engaging with the Ngaanyatjarra Land Council to secure access and exploration rights for the project.
Buxton plans to utilize modern geophysical techniques to identify new targets for drill testing at the Montello Cu/Ag project, with the goal of defining a large-scale copper-silver mineralized system.
