 Interim Production Uplift Program results
Key Points
  • Successful scale removal at Odin-1, Odin-2, and Vali-1 wells
  • Encouraging initial data on scale impact at Odin and Vali fields
  • Potential for significant production uplift remains
Full Summary

Vintage Energy Ltd has reported on the results to date from the completed elements of its Production Uplift Program at the Odin and Vali gas fields. The program commenced in July following the re-establishment of access after Cooper Basin flooding. The first phase confirmed that scale presence is more widespread than previously identified, with direct evidence of significant scale observed at Odin-1, Odin-2, the Odin facility, and Vali-2, and indirect evidence at Vali-1. Removal of scale using an acid solution has proven to be simple and effective. Operations at Odin-1 identified and removed renewed down-hole scale accumulation, allowing the well to return to production at a raw gas flow rate of 2.1 MMscf/d, compared to 1.8 MMscf/d prior to treatment. At Odin-2, the presence of downhole scale accumulation was confirmed, and following chemical treatment, the well sustained flow rates in excess of 0.3 MMscfd and up to 0.5 MMscf/d. At Vali-1, the perforated intervals of the Toolachee Formation were accessed, but no measurable gas flow was observed, likely due to scale development. Further analysis is planned to establish gas flow from the Toolachee pay intervals. The program is partially complete, and the potential for significant uplift remains. The joint venture will continue to evaluate appropriate longer-term scale management solutions.

Outlook

Vintage is continuing to pursue options to complete the remaining operations comprising the second phase of the program as soon as practicable. These program elements include the remaining work program at Vali-2 and Vali-1 to address production from the Toolachee Formation and the dewatering of Vali-3.
