Platina Resources Ltd has acquired the Mt McKenna Gold Project, a highly prospective exploration project located in the Laverton district of Western Australia. The Laverton district is known for its world-class gold mines and deposits, with the geological environment being conducive to finding +1Moz gold deposits. The Mt McKenna project is well-funded, with A$11 million available to execute drilling programs. The project is situated in close proximity to established mining infrastructure, including accommodation, airport, hospital, and skilled workforce in Laverton. The tenement is traversed by major roads, gas, and power, and multiple gold processing plants are within 50km distance. Geological prospectivity is highlighted by a contact zone between a belt of greenstones and a syenitic intrusion, which is traversed by large mantle tapping regional faults. Historical exploration has yielded encouraging results, including shallow RAB drilling intercepts of 16m @ 1.05g/t Au and 15m @ 0.87g/t Au, as well as recent high-grade gold rock chip sampling. However, the majority of historical exploration has been focused to the west of the new high-grade rock chips and gold nugget finds, indicating significant untested potential along the 20km strike of the greenstone belt. Platina's planned exploration program includes a ground gravity survey, reinterpretation of seismic data, infill soil sampling, mapping, rock-chip sampling, and aircore and reverse circulation drilling to further evaluate the project's potential.
