Sand King - Drilling Expands Mineralisation
Key Points
  • Drilling 300m north of the current life of mine plan at Sand King Underground has delivered high-grade gold intercepts and expanded the mine's mineralisation footprint
  • Underground resource definition drilling intersected multiple economic lodes 50 metres north of the life of mine plan
  • Drilling demonstrates the potential for high-grade shoots as well as lower grade bulk tonnes, with significant intercepts outside the existing life of mine plan
Full Summary

Ora Banda Mining Ltd (ASX: OBM) has reported excellent first stage exploration, resource definition and infill results from surface and underground drilling at the Sand King Underground. A large step-out drill hole and a wedge hole, 300 metres north of the current life of mine (LOM) plan, have delivered high-grade gold intercepts and significantly expanded the mine's mineralisation footprint. The vertical separation between the parent and wedge hole is 70 vertical metres, with mineralisation considered open in all directions. Underground resource definition drilling also intersected multiple economic lodes 50 metres north of the LOM plan. The drilling demonstrates the potential for high-grade shoots as well as lower grade bulk tonnes, with significant intercepts outside the existing LOM plan including 1.7m @ 1,371.2 g/t and 5.6m @ 346.3 g/t. The commitment to the 4338 drill platform early in the mine life and before the first level has fast-tracked the drilling in the southern corridor, transforming the eastern lodes stopes from isolated pockets into a continuous and economic corridor. This has brought forward the extension of the south decline and subsequent increase in mine inventory. The recent drilling in the southern corridor also confirms a significant intercept in the early surface hole SKDD23004 being 3.0m @7.0g/t and 250 metres below surface. The drilling results show that Sand King Underground is bigger than initially thought, with the tenor of the mineralisation potentially higher than expected.
