Contact Energy has released its August 2025 operating report, providing an overview of the company's key operational and financial metrics. In the Customer business, mass market electricity and gas sales were 454GWh, slightly lower than the 456GWh recorded in August 2024. However, the mass market netback improved to $148.36/MWh, up from $131.36/MWh in the prior year. In the Wholesale business, contracted wholesale electricity sales, including that sold to the Customer business, totalled 830GWh, compared to 840GWh in August 2024. Electricity and steam net revenue was $172.23/MWh, down from $204.53/MWh in the prior year. Electricity generated (or acquired) was 918GWh, up from 875GWh in August 2024, while the unit generation cost, including acquired generation, was $52.89/MWh, a significant improvement from $80.39/MWh in the prior year. The company also provided updates on its renewable development projects, including the Glenbrook-Ohurua BESS, Kowhai Park Solar, and Te Mihi Stage 2 geothermal projects, all of which are currently under construction.
