- Current depth of 2,200 mRT MD; 1,400 mRT TVD
- Horizontal length of 678m drilled so far
- Encountering gas shows up to 590 units or 118,000 ppm (C1 to C5)
Lakes Blue Energy has provided an update on the drilling operations at the Wombat-5 well, side-track-2 (ST-2) in the Gippsland Basin, Victoria. As of 8:00 am AEST today, the well has reached a depth of 2,200 mRT MD (1,400 mRT TVD) with a horizontal length of 678m. The company has encountered gas shows of up to 590 units or 118,000 parts per million (C1 to C5) while tripping in and out of the hole. The Upper Strzelecki Formation continues to demonstrate that it is gas saturated, with further, extensive good quality sandstones being intersected. The drilling encountered some issues with a slow rate of penetration and increased torque, which are suspected to be related to a dislodged part of the drillable reamer shoe at the bottom of the 7' casing. The contractor is currently pulling the drill string out of the hole to inspect the drill bit and bottomhole assembly, and the company expects the issue to be remedied shortly before resuming drilling towards the Wombat-3 target.
