VBX Discovers Low-Silica Bauxite at East Kalumburu
- Low-silica, ferruginous bauxite discovered at East Kalumburu
- Ausenco appointed as Wuudagu DFS Manager
- Dr Paul Vogel AM appointed as Strategic Advisor
VBX Limited has discovered low-silica, ferruginous bauxite mineralisation at East Kalumburu, located within exploration licence E80/4791-I on Balanggarra country near Kalumburu in northern Western Australia. Assay results from the first 32 holes and 617m of exploration drilling show significant intercepts, including 2m at 37% Al2O3 and 4% SiO2 from 1m in EKA1, 3m at 33% Al2O3 and 4% SiO2 from 2m in EKA13, and 5m at 36% Al2O3 and 6% SiO2 from 1m in EKA15. The company has also appointed Ausenco Services Pty Ltd as the Wuudagu Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) Manager and Dr Paul Vogel AM as a Strategic Advisor. Ausenco will focus on optimising the Wuudagu beneficiation and product transport logistics, while Dr Vogel will provide expertise on the approvals pathway, environmental assessment, and stakeholder engagement. The drilling program at Wuudagu is progressing well, with exploration and infill drilling targeting an increase in the size and confidence of the existing 96Mt Indicated and Inferred Resource, and hydrogeological drilling to support the DFS and environmental studies.
VBX is focused on the near-term development of high-grade, low-silica bauxite resources at its flagship Wuudagu project in northern Western Australia. The company is poised for growth, with 52% of the Wuudagu target areas undrilled and additional exploration prospectivity at the large-scale Takapinga project in the Northern Territory.
