Sulphides intersected in Northern Territory drilling
- Sulphides intercepted over multiple intervals in drill hole FMD016
- Pyrite dominant zones and pyrrhotite dominant zones observed
- Assay results pending, eagerly awaited by the company
DeSoto Resources has provided an update on the drilling program at its Spectrum Project in the Northern Territory, Australia. The recent drilling of the Western Target Area (FMD016) has returned encouraging sulphide zones from a geologically significant position. Drill hole FMD016 has intersected two intervals, 20m and 15m thick, of disseminated to semi-massive pyrite with silica and chlorite infill, including laminated veins and crackle breccias indicative of a strong hydrothermal system. The pyrite dominant phase overprints a pyrrhotite-rich sheared metasediment. Historic drilling by Homestake in the vicinity had also returned encouraging results from a skarn zone. Assay results for FMD016 are pending and the company is eagerly awaiting these to further evaluate the potential of this target area. The Spectrum Project is part of DeSoto's Fenton Shear Zone Portfolio and has seen very little modern-day exploration. The company identified drill target FMD016, a high intensity magnetic feature adjacent to a newly found buried granite, with the potential for gold, copper, tin, tungsten and uranium mineralisation.
