Wombat-5 Well Update: Production Casing In Progress
- Wombat-5 well drilling operations ongoing in Gippsland Basin, Victoria
- Production casing run to 2,185 mRT, completion being installed
- Gas production wellhead to be installed after completion, followed by flow testing
Lakes Blue Energy has provided an update on the drilling operations at the Wombat-5 well, side-track-2 (ST-2), in the Gippsland Basin, Victoria. As of 8:00 am AEST today, the well has reached a depth of 3,052 mRT MD (1,421 mRT TVD), with a horizontal length of 1,500m. The production casing has been run to 2,185 mRT, and the completion, which includes swellable packers, sliding sleeves to access gas zones, and distributed temperature sensing optic fibre cable, is currently being installed. The completion will be positioned at a depth of 2,440 mRT to facilitate gas production from the two major gas zones behind it, while the third, deeper major gas zone is expected to be accessible on a 'barefoot' basis via the bottom of the completion. After the completion is installed, the gas production wellhead will be installed, and the drilling rig will be demobilized. The site will then be secured pending the arrival of a workover unit and gas flow test package, scheduled for 10 November to allow time for the swellable packers to set.
