Eclipse Metals Commences Drilling at Greenland Rare Earths Project
- Mobilization for diamond drilling program at the Grønnedal Nd-Pr Rare Earths Carbonatite Complex
- Existing JORC Inferred Resource of 89Mt at 6,363ppm TREO, with 39% magnet rare earth oxides (MREO)
- Potential to be a strategic Western-aligned source of critical magnet rare earths
Eclipse Metals Ltd (ASX: EPM) has announced the commencement of mobilization for its 2025 diamond drilling program at the Grønnedal Nd-Pr Rare Earths Carbonatite Complex in Greenland. This follows the recent completion of consultation and regulatory approvals in Greenland (Licence MEL2007-45). The drilling program is designed to expand and upgrade the existing JORC-compliant Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) at the project. The Grønnedal carbonatite currently hosts an Inferred Resource of 89.2Mt at 6,363 ppm TREO, containing 567,600 tonnes of total rare earth oxides (TREO). Crucially, the resource is dominated by magnet rare earth oxides (MREO), which account for approximately 39% of the TREO. This includes 152,002 tonnes of Nd2O3 and 36,927 tonnes of Pr6O11, highlighting Grønnedal's potential as a Western-aligned source of critical magnet rare earths. The deposit is also characterized by favorable mineralogy, with coarse-grained bastnäsite-synchysite-monazite that is amenable to conventional flotation compatible with Western separation technologies. The project benefits from established infrastructure, including proximity to a deep-water port, developed roads, and existing camp facilities, providing a cost-effective pathway to exploration and development. Eclipse's Executive Chairman, Carl Popal, commented that the mobilization for drilling at Grønnedal marks an important milestone for the company, as it advances a program designed to demonstrate the scale, quality, and processing advantages of this carbonatite system.
Eclipse Metals plans to provide regular updates on the progress and results of the drilling program at the Grønnedal Nd-Pr Rare Earths Carbonatite Complex in accordance with ASX disclosure requirements.
