High-grade intersections extend known mineralisation by 650m
Key Points
  • Drilling extends known mineralisation by 650m beyond previous drilling, including 49m at 6.1% CuEq
  • Confirms presence of copper-gold rich Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) zones and broad copper-rich Footwall Zone (FWZ)
  • Ongoing drilling aims to upgrade Inferred Resources and make new regional discoveries
Full Summary

FireFly Metals Ltd (ASX: FFM, TSX: FFM) has announced exceptional drill results that extend the known mineralisation at its Green Bay Copper-Gold Project in Canada by more than 650m beyond the previous Mineral Resource Estimate. The furthest drillhole intersected 49.0m at 6.1% copper equivalent (CuEq), including a higher-grade zone of 14.3m at 13.7% CuEq. These results confirm the presence of two distinct styles of mineralisation - copper-gold rich Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) lenses above a broad copper-rich Footwall Zone (FWZ). Other step-out holes also returned significant intersections, including 7.0m at 3.9% CuEq and 14.1m at 3.7% CuEq in the VMS zones, as well as consistent grades and widths in the FWZ. The drilling also confirms a previously reported 700m long downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) anomaly is the result of the copper-gold bearing sulphide mineralisation, indicating it likely continues beyond the step-out hole. FireFly is well-funded to accelerate its growth campaign, with a recent equity raising strengthening its balance sheet to around A$145 million. The company is focused on upgrading the Mineral Resource, extending known mineralisation, and making new regional discoveries through an extensive drilling program.

Guidance

The current Mineral Resource Estimate for Green Bay totals 24.4Mt at 1.9% for 460Kt CuEq of Measured & Indicated Resources and 34.5Mt at 2.0% for 690Kt CuEq of Inferred Resources. Based on the results to date, it is likely that the amount of mineralisation classified as Measured and Indicated Resources will increase in the Mineral Resource Estimate update planned for later this quarter.

Outlook

FireFly is well-funded to accelerate its growth campaign and engineering studies at the Green Bay Copper-Gold Project. Near-term drilling activities will continue to focus on upgrading the Mineral Resource, extending known mineralisation, and making new regional discoveries. Economic evaluations for the rescaled resumption of production at Green Bay are also ongoing, with the first preliminary study planned for completion in Q1 2026.
