Elixir Energy, an ASX-listed energy company, presented at the Noosa Mining Conference, showcasing its position in the Taroom Trough, a major East Coast gas resource. The company has the largest acreage position in the Taroom Trough's Basin Centred Gas play/Tight Gas Sands, with over 2,000 km² or ~500,000 acres. Its acreage is geologically diversified across the Trough's gas, gas-condensate, and light oil plays, with interests in permits directly north, south, and east of Shell's key permit and area of operations. Elixir has independently certified 2C Contingent Gas Resources of ~2.8 TCFe across its northern Taroom permits in the BCG play, with additional 2C resources from its deep dry coal testing. The Taroom Trough is considered a Montney-scale opportunity, with the application of American drilling techniques and technologies expected to unlock significant gas resources. Elixir has a board and management team with experience of organically building gas companies, and the company is well-funded with new R&D funding confirmed. The next 6 months are expected to be catalytic, with testing at the Diona-1 well and drilling at the Lorelle-3 appraisal well, which will target the Tinowon 'Dunk' Sands, a key reservoir that has seen success in Shell's nearby operations.
