1414 Degrees Ltd (ASX: 14D) provides an update on activities at the Aurora Energy Precinct, a joint venture project located north of Port Augusta in South Australia's Upper Spencer Gulf Renewable Energy Zone. The Precinct has obtained Crown Sponsorship and all key planning and environmental approvals. 1414 Degrees manages the development of a 140 MW / 280 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) for the joint venture company, and is independently developing a long-duration thermal energy storage (TES) facility approved for the site. The Precinct is strategically positioned to intersect with a new high-voltage Northern Transmission Project line planned for completion by 2030, which would further strengthen its potential to provide firm renewable power. In addition to the BESS, 1414 Degrees is exploring the provision of infrastructure and firmed power for data centres as part of its TES planning, leveraging the Precinct's high-capacity transmission access and existing fibre-optic connectivity. The company is focused on advancing the BESS project, including receipt of conditional approval, execution of a connection agreement, and final investment decision for procurement and construction.
