VHD Thermal Conductivity Superior Performance Validated
- Independent testing confirms VHD delivers superior thermal conductivity and diffusivity compared to copper and aluminum
- VHD achieves 1.3x the thermal conductivity of copper and 3x that of aluminum
- VHD has 2.9x the thermal diffusivity of copper and 4.6x that of aluminum
Green Critical Minerals Ltd has reported exceptional thermal conductivity and diffusivity results for its VHD technology, following independent testing by the University of New South Wales (UNSW). The like-for-like testing confirmed that VHD significantly outperforms conventional thermal management materials such as copper and aluminum. VHD achieved a thermal conductivity of 422 W/m·K, 1.3 times that of copper (328 W/m·K) and 3 times that of aluminum (142 W/m·K). In terms of thermal diffusivity, VHD performed 2.9 times better than copper and 4.6 times better than aluminum. These results demonstrate that VHD not only removes heat from the source more effectively than copper and aluminum, but also addresses the dynamic heat demands of data centers, high-performance computing and power electronics better than conventional materials. The company has also received positive feedback from customers, with one customer's testing indicating an estimated in-plane thermal conductivity of over 600 W/m·K for VHD. These latest test results, along with the progress made in commercializing VHD, including moving from pilot plant to production and customer qualification, support the company's belief that VHD will become a leading thermal management product for the forecast +US$2 trillion technology and electronics markets.
The company has made impressive progress in the last 12 months, validating the superior thermal performance of VHD, moving from pilot plant to production, and progressing through the customer qualification process. This supports the company's targeted first revenue in the first half of calendar year 2026.
