Talga Group Ltd, a battery materials and technology company, has announced that its Swedish subsidiary has received A$13.35m in grant funds from the Swedish Energy Agency's Industrial Leap ('Industriklivet') program. This follows Talga's successful application for a project called 'Sustainable, low emission active anode material made from natural graphite and recycled graphite', which has a total value of A$30.8m. The project, to be completed by 30 June 2026, will validate a near-industrial scale anode manufacturing process and inform engineering design for the commercial plan. This funding will support Talga's efforts to develop secure and low-emission lithium-ion battery anode supply chains and new-energy materials. The company's capabilities include proprietary graphite purification, shaping and coating technologies, which aim to address challenges in battery manufacturing such as supply vulnerabilities, performance limitations and recyclability, thereby accelerating the shift to more secure critical mineral product manufacturing.
