Re-Assay of Historical Rock Chip Results Confirms Significant Gold Potential at Mt Usher
Key Points
  • Re-assaying of 125 rock chip sample pulps confirms significant high-grade gold potential at Mt Usher
  • Standout grades include up to 24.1 g/t Au, 18 g/t Ag and 0.11% Zn
  • Associated with elevated Molybdenum, Gallium and Tellurium, suggesting a base metal, gold-telluride system
Full Summary

Lithium Energy Limited (ASX:LEL) has announced the results of re-assaying historical rock chip pulps taken by GBM Resources in 2017 over the Mt Usher gold mineralisation within the Capricorn Gold-Copper Belt Project in Queensland. The re-assaying was conducted to validate the original sampling and confirm the gold potential of the area. Of the 125 re-assays, 19 returned Au grades in excess of 1g/t Au with elevated Ag and associated base metal (Cu, Pb, Zn) anomalism. The re-assaying also revealed elevated molybdenum, gallium and tellurium, suggesting the gold mineralisation at Mt Usher represents a base metal-gold-telluride system formed at sub-epithermal depths related to a deeper quartz-feldspar porphyry system. The results confirm Mt Usher as a high priority exploration target for Lithium Energy, with the company now planning an accelerated work program including geochemical review, geophysical surveys, mapping, sampling and drilling to further evaluate the gold potential of the prospect.

Outlook

Lithium Energy plans to undertake an extensive program of exploration using modern geophysical techniques and drilling to target multiple large-scale Au, Cu, Mo, and Zn mineralised systems within the Capricorn Gold-Copper Belt Project, including at the Mt Usher prospect.
