Metallurgical Testwork Shows Stronger Gold Recoveries
- Combined gold recoveries up to 88% from primary Cu-Au ore types, compared with 50-70% reported in previous testwork
- Combined copper recoveries exceeding 96% from primary Cu-Au ore types
- Primary Cu-Au ore type represents 89% of the global Cu-Au Mineral Resource
Maronan Metals Limited has engaged OptiFroth Solutions to undertake further assessment of flotation performance for the Copper-Gold portion of the Maronan Deposit. Six Copper-Gold (Cu-Au) core samples were submitted for laboratory-scale flotation testwork, representing the three visually distinct ore types at Maronan - Primary, Transitional and Leached. The testwork program demonstrated high recoveries of both copper and gold for the primary ore samples, with combined copper recoveries exceeding 96% and combined gold recoveries up to 88%. This represents a significant improvement compared to previous testwork, which reported gold recoveries of 50-70%. The primary ore type is estimated to account for approximately 89% of the global Copper Gold Mineral Resource. In contrast, the leached and transitional ore samples exhibited more variable recoveries, with elevated losses occurring during the cleaner flotation stage, influenced by elevated and variable levels of native copper. Monitoring and mitigation of potential penalty elements will continue through DFS metallurgical work to ensure concentrates of acceptable quality can be produced across all ore classifications. The results provide further confidence in the processing characteristics of the Maronan mineralisation, particularly for the primary ore types that comprise the majority of the Copper-Gold Mineral Resource.
