New Ground Acquired as Exploration Accelerates
- DeSoto acquires 290km2 in the SW-Siguiri Basin of Guinea
- Exploration programs including BLEG, soil sampling and power auger underway across 17 permits
- Follow-up work planned on maiden drilling results at Dadjan and Tolé
DeSoto Resources Limited (ASX:DES) has signed an agreement with United Mining SARL (UGM) to acquire three reconnaissance authorisations - the Yarakoura, Doutila and Moussaya Projects - in the southwest Siguiri Basin of Guinea. The new permits cover an inferred regional structural intersection and are contiguous with DeSoto's existing Moiko and Alamakono authorisations. The company is currently undertaking a range of exploration programs across its 17-project portfolio in the Siguiri Basin, including BLEG soil sampling, power auger drilling and mapping. These systematic programs are designed to generate a rolling pipeline of drill targets and anomalies, with a rapid progression from anomalies to trenching and drilling. At the company's South-Central projects, including Dadjan, Tolé, Koba, Nérékoré Sud, Kassa Est and Mini, the exploration focus is on advancing existing targets and opening up new areas for discovery through geochemical programs. An artisanal mapping program at Koba has defined a ~4.3km-long zone of workings interpreted to extend into the Dadjan and Tolé permits. At Dadjan and Tolé, the company is following up its maiden drilling program, which confirmed the presence of a large gold system, with a regional soil geochemistry program. DeSoto also plans to complete an airborne magnetics survey to refine exploration targeting. In the Southeast Siguiri, the company is completing BLEG and soil sampling programs at Komah, Dabidiana, Timbakouna and Falama. Historic drilling at Timbakouna has returned high-grade intercepts, and DeSoto's recent reconnaissance work has confirmed the strong tenor of gold across the tenure.Next steps include completing the current soil sampling and BLEG programs, followed by follow-up soil sampling, trenching and power auger drilling. As coherent trends emerge, the company will undertake reverse circulation and aircore drilling. DeSoto also plans to continue making new ground applications and acquisitions to expand its Siguiri Basin portfolio.
DeSoto Resources will continue to make applications and acquisitions to deliver more ground, more targets and more opportunity in the Siguiri Basin of Guinea.
