Lady Herial-Foster Offers Potential Gold/Nickel Synergy
- Depth extent of Lady Herial gold structures now a significant +500m plunge
- Down-dip projection of gold system only 200m-300m away from Company's 85H nickel Mineral Resource
- Potential future synergies between gold and nickel underground at Foster and Lady Herial
Lunnon Metals Limited (ASX: LM8) is pleased to provide further detail regarding the emerging opportunity relating to the Lady Herial mineralised gold system. Recent exploration results support key mineralised structures continuing at depth, and also the potential for these structures to interact down dip with the Foster underground nickel mine and other highly prospective gold host rocks within the St Ives camp. The Lady Herial mineralised gold system is a structurally controlled suite of gently northwest dipping quartz breccia lodes, currently hosting 84,400oz of gold and open down plunge within Zone 4 of the Defiance Dolerite. The system is also open to the southwest-northeast where it is yet to be tested in other favourable St Ives host rocks, namely the Paringa Basalt and the Lunnon Sediment. The relationship between the high-grade, nickel sulphide channels and the later gold structures in the Kambalda-St Ives camp is now well established, and the Company has the opportunity to expedite the assessment of the true potential of the Lady Herial system, including its possible interaction with the Lunnon Sediment locally. Confirmation of the system's continuity and extent may present a number of exciting gold opportunities, including the potential for extraction over a known 500m plunge length, and the opportunity for the structures to interact with the Kapai Slate Formation, Lunnon Sediment, and Paringa Basalt. Significantly, the down-dip extrapolation of the Lady Herial gold structures is projected to pass within close proximity to the southern end of the Company's 85H nickel Mineral Resource, presenting potential future synergies between gold and nickel underground at Foster and Lady Herial.
The Company is currently evaluating the opportunity for both a cutback to the present Lady Herial gold open pit and an initial open pit at the adjacent Hustler deposit. In conjunction with this exercise, the Company will review the cost, time and resources required to dewater and re-enter the Foster nickel mine to access the 8 Level 85H development with a view to understanding the opportunity for possible future gold exploration from underground.
