New Cobar Basin Tenement Granted, Drilling Fast-tracked
- Highly prospective Thunderstruck target identified within new Exploration Licence EL9887
- Coincident geochemical and geophysical anomalies indicate potential for a significant sulphide-rich hydrothermal system
- Land access secured, enabling fast-tracked drill testing in the coming weeks
Peel Mining Limited (ASX: PEX) has been granted Exploration Licence EL9887, covering the newly identified Thunderstruck prospect in the Cobar Basin, New South Wales. The Thunderstruck prospect was identified during a recent review of open-file geological data, with Peel's review highlighting several key features: a strong magnetic anomaly modelled as an east-dipping, pipe-like body; surface lead-antimony-molybdenum geochemical anomalism; and a shallow drill intercept exhibiting an exceptionally strong thallium-arsenic-antimony pathfinder geochemical signature and elevated lead-zinc association. The prospect is located proximal to the intersection of the regional-scale Jackermaroo and Sandy Creek Faults, in a favourable sedimentary/limestone host geology with sulphide development associated with the contact zone. Peel has now secured land access and is seeking regulatory approvals to commence a fast-tracked drill testing program in the coming weeks to evaluate this compelling geochemical and geophysical target.
Peel is excited to commence drilling at the Thunderstruck prospect in the near term and to see whether it can become another important addition to the company's Cobar Basin portfolio.
