NRW Holdings Limited (ASX: NWH) has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, NRW Contracting Pty Ltd, has been awarded the contract for the Tonkin Highway Grade Separations, Hale Road and Welshpool Road East project by Main Roads Western Australia. This project forms part of the wider Tonkin Highway Corridor upgrades from Roe Highway to Kelvin Road. The project will upgrade Tonkin Highway from Roe Highway to Kelvin Road, improving safety and reducing congestion along this heavily trafficked route. The scope of works includes reconstruction and widening of Tonkin Highway to provide three lanes in each direction, a diamond interchange at Welshpool Road East, a Principal Shared Path (PSP) on the eastern side of Tonkin Highway including underpasses, a u-turn facility on Welshpool Road East, lighting, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) foundations, noise mitigation treatments, service relocations, and modifications to local government roads and intersections. In addition to the awarded works, NRW Contracting has also provided a separate price for Optional Works associated with the project, including a further grade separation at Hale Road, with partial connection to Tonkin Highway through north-facing ramps. These optional works are subject to Main Roads Western Australia exercising the option to proceed.
