HISTORIC DRILLING CONFIRMS EXCEPTIONAL HIGH-GRADE FLUORSPAR MINERALISATION
Key Points
  • Drilling by Union Carbide in 1958 intersected exceptionally high-grade fluorspar (CaF2) up to 93.7%
  • Significant widths of high-grade mineralisation from surface, with intercepts up to 25.8m @ 46.2% CaF2
  • Mineralisation remains open up-dip, down-dip and at depth, indicating potential for a large-scale fluorspar system
Full Summary

OD6 Metals has acquired a rare dataset of geological records from Union Carbide Corporation, which include a summary report and assay sheets from a four-hole shallow drilling program conducted in 1958. The drilling intersected considerable zones of high-grade fluorspar (CaF2) mineralisation, with outstanding intercepts including 14.3m @ 70.9% CaF2 from surface, 14.0m @ 59.9% CaF2 from 19.5m, and 25.8m @ 46.2% CaF2 from 0.9m, including 12.8m @ 60.9% CaF2. The historic drill sites were located in the southern corner of the exposed mineral system, and the drilling targeted the eastern bounding fault. UCC elected not to assay the entire lengths of the holes, and it is possible that additional fluorspar-bearing sections were not assayed, indicating the mineralised widths may be materially greater than the historic drilled widths. The mineralisation is interpreted as a fault-controlled replacement system, with an exposed footprint of approximately 3,000m², and remains open up-dip, down-dip and at depth, providing significant exploration upside. OD6 Metals plans to undertake further due diligence, including new sampling, geological and structural mapping, and soil geochemistry programs, to validate and replicate the historic high-grade results, and identify and prioritise drill targets for a maiden drilling program.

Outlook

The Company plans to undertake further due diligence, including new sampling, geological and structural mapping, and soil geochemistry programs, to validate and replicate the historic high-grade results, and identify and prioritise drill targets for a maiden drilling program. The system remains open up-dip, down-dip and at depth, providing significant exploration upside.
