IperionX Commissions Advanced Powder Metallurgy Press
- Commissioned 300-ton, six-axis powder metallurgy press in South Boston, VA
- Triples existing powder metallurgy capacity
- Expands range of high-value titanium components manufactured in the U.S.
IperionX Limited has successfully commissioned an advanced 300-ton, six-axis SACMI powder metallurgy press at its Titanium Manufacturing Campus in South Boston, Virginia. This new press significantly enhances IperionX's powder metallurgy capacity and broadens the spectrum of complex titanium components it can produce. Utilizing titanium powder from IperionX's patented HAMR process, the SACMI press forms near-net-shape preforms that are then sintered and forged using the HSPT process. This integrated manufacturing pathway bypasses traditional titanium supply chains, aiming to reduce costs and lead times while maintaining high performance. The new press is expected to support customer programs requiring higher-volume production and more intricate component designs.
