Aurora Labs Wins $1 Million Defence Grant for Manufacturing Scale-Up
- Aurora Labs awarded $1 million Defence Industry Development Grant
- Grant to fund procurement of a large-format metal 3D printer
- Funding supports production scale-up of micro gas turbine propulsion systems
- Supports domestic production of guided weapons and autonomous systems
Aurora Labs Ltd, an Australian leader in metal additive manufacturing and advanced propulsion technologies, has been awarded a $1 million Defence Industry Development Grant from the Australian Government. The grant, part of the Sovereign Industrial Priorities Stream, will fund the procurement of a large-format Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) metal 3D printer. This equipment is crucial for scaling up production of Aurora's micro gas turbine (MGT) propulsion units. The grant requires a dollar-for-dollar match from Aurora, bringing the total investment to $2 million. The new printer will enable Aurora to meet the growing demand for its MGT propulsion systems, which are used in various defence applications such as low-cost effectors, loitering munitions, counter-UAS, and target drones.
Aurora Labs expects the grant to significantly enhance its production capabilities, positioning it as a key player in the domestic defence supply chain.
