Patriot Battery Metals Inc Identifies Potential Refining Pathway
- Concept study completed evaluating future potential to process spodumene concentrate into a value-added lithium product at Shaakichiuwaanaan site.
- Primero's ALi® atmospheric leach process identified as preferred value-added pathway.
- Bench scale testwork produced 99.8% Li2CO3 battery-grade lithium carbonate.
- On-site refining could reduce logistics intensity and carbon footprint.
- Supports domestic processing of critical minerals in Canada and Quebec.
Patriot Battery Metals Inc. has completed a concept study evaluating the potential to refine spodumene concentrate into a value-added lithium product directly at its Shaakichiuwaanaan site in Quebec. The study identified Primero's ALi® atmospheric leach process as the preferred pathway due to its economic potential, logistics efficiency, and alignment with sustainability objectives. Bench scale testwork produced a 99.8% Li2CO3 battery-grade lithium carbonate, indicating the potential for on-site refining to reduce logistics intensity and carbon footprint. This initiative aligns with Canada's and Quebec's objectives for domestic processing of critical minerals, offering a staged, longer-term growth opportunity.
The next phase of work will focus on advancing the ALi® process towards a PEA level of detail, aiming to determine the potential for on-site refining and its integration into the broader development plan.
