Calix Limited, an Australian industrial technology company, has announced a Joint Development Agreement with Ambuja Cements, a subsidiary of the Adani Group, for a commercial-scale cement project in Gujarat, India. The project aims to deploy Calix's Leilac technology at the Sanghi cement plant, targeting low-cost, low-carbon cement production. The initiative seeks to retrofit the Leilac technology to reduce emissions, lower fuel consumption, and increase the use of renewable electricity. Subject to a successful demonstration phase, the project could capture over 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum. Calix and Ambuja Cements will jointly develop the project, with a go/no-go decision targeted for 2027. No capital contribution is required from Calix or Leilac at any stage.
