Krakatoa Resources Limited (ASX: KTA) has commenced its 2026 drilling program at the Zopkhito Antimony-Gold Project in Georgia. The project, covering 1,779 hectares, aims to convert the current foreign resource estimate into a JORC standard Mineral Resource Estimate. Drilling focuses on areas where mineralised antimony and gold veins have been encountered. The Zopkhito Project benefits from extensive historical exploration, including 27km of underground adits and over 15,000 historical samples. The project is held under a mining license valid until 2042, with an option for Krakatoa to acquire up to an 80% interest. The company plans to undertake additional metallurgical optimisation test work and preliminary mining studies.
Krakatoa believes Zopkhito has the potential to become a significant European source of antimony, a critical mineral with increasing global strategic importance.
