MRG Metals Discovers Significant Gallium at Garies Project
- MRG's Garies Project shows significant Gallium levels up to 450 ppm
- Gallium is hosted by free pyrite grains in magnetite veins
- Further metallurgical tests planned to evaluate potential for concentration
- Gallium is critical for semiconductors, power electronics, and defense technologies
- Gallium Oxide price on 1 July 2026 was US$367.46/kg
MRG Metals Limited (ASX: MRQ) announced significant Gallium levels at its Garies Project in Northern Cape Province, South Africa. Metallurgical analysis from 85 magnetite vein drill samples showed an average of 290 ppm Gallium Oxide (Ga2O3) with a maximum of 450 ppm. A bulk sample extracted from the drill samples contained 347 ppm Ga2O3. Two REO-rich concentrates assayed 880 ppm and 573 ppm Ga2O3 respectively. Gallium is hosted by free pyrite grains, an accessory mineral in the magnetite veins, which comprises about 5% of the mineralized veins. Further metallurgical testwork will assess alternative processing methods to selectively concentrate Gallium-bearing pyrite. Gallium is a critical mineral used in advanced electronics, renewable energy applications, and semiconductor manufacturing.
