Locksley Advances Antimony Recovery with Rice University
- Rice University collaboration advances DeepSolv technology towards an integrated domestic U.S. antimony processing pathway
- Raw ore containing 9-12% antimony successfully upgraded to products containing up to 93% Sb
- Electrodeposition successfully produced pure metallic antimony from raw ore
Locksley Resources Limited, in collaboration with Rice University, has made significant advancements in the development of innovative hydrometallurgical processing technologies for antimony recovery. The collaboration focuses on DeepSolv technology, a low-temperature process designed to provide a cleaner alternative to traditional high-temperature smelting. Laboratory tests have demonstrated successful dissolution and recovery of antimony from raw ore and concentrates, with antimony content upgraded to 93% Sb. Additionally, the team has successfully produced phase pure antimony oxide and metallic antimony through electrodeposition. The next phase of the project will concentrate on optimizing the DeepSolv process, evaluating pilot-scale equipment, and assessing potential downstream applications for the recovered antimony products.
The collaboration aims to develop scalable processing solutions for U.S.-sourced antimony feedstocks, supporting the establishment of a domestic processing capability.
