ANSTO Validates High 98% NdPr Extraction for Lindian Resources
- ANSTO independently validated the complete conventional sulphuric acid processing flowsheet from concentrate through to specification mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC).
- Achieved 98% NdPr extraction and 96% TREY extraction, exceeding previous optimization results.
- Final MREC independently certified exempt from radioactive transport and handling under IAEA standards.
- Demonstrated repeatability across multiple concentrate feeds, confirming flowsheet robustness.
- Complete process directly applicable to the existing SARECO processing facility in Kazakhstan.
Lindian Resources Limited (ASX: LIN) announced that the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) has successfully completed the downstream hydrometallurgical testwork program on Kangankunde monazite concentrate. The program independently validated the complete conventional sulphuric acid processing route from concentrate through to specification mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC), achieving 98% NdPr extraction and 96% TREY extraction. The final MREC product was certified exempt from radioactive transport and handling under IAEA standards, simplifying logistics and broadening customer access. The validated process is directly applicable to the SARECO processing facility in Kazakhstan, supported by an established sulphuric acid supply arrangement. This milestone reduces technical and execution risk, positioning Lindian for commercial implementation of its integrated concentrate and MREC production strategy.
Lindian is set to transition from metallurgical validation to commercial implementation of its integrated concentrate and MREC production strategy, leveraging the validated flowsheet at the SARECO facility.
