Dimerix Limited, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted a key patent for its new asset, DMX-652. The patent, titled 'N-cyanopyrrolidines with activity as USP30 inhibitors', provides composition of matter claims covering DMX-652 until April 2043, extended by the USPTO from the original date of 2041. DMX-652, a Phase 2-ready asset, has the potential to rapidly advance into a Phase 2 clinical study under an existing open U.S. Investigational New Drug (IND) application. The patent term adjustment by the USPTO provides an additional two years of patent life, enhancing the commercial attractiveness of the asset. Dimerix is currently preparing for a Phase 2 clinical trial of DMX-652 in the initial indication of acute kidney injury (AKI) associated with cardiac surgery.
