Firebird Demonstrates Proprietary LMR Cathode Performance
- Firebird achieved discharge capacity comparable to commercial reference.
- LMR cathode material showed 65% higher capacity than LFP and 26% higher than NCM.
- Successful synthesis campaigns completed at China R&D facility.
Firebird Metals Ltd. has successfully demonstrated its proprietary Lithium Manganese Rich (LMR) cathode materials, achieving discharge capacity performance comparable to commercial reference materials. Independent electrochemical testing confirmed that Firebird's LMR cathode material achieved a 0.1C discharge capacity of 263.7 mAh/g, which is approximately 65% higher than typical Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and 26% higher than high-nickel Nickel Cobalt Manganese (NCM) cathode materials. The results validate Firebird's vertically integrated strategy, extending from high-purity manganese sulphate production into advanced manganese-rich cathode materials. The next phase of development will focus on improving cycle life and commercial performance, with the proprietary LMR process planned to be demonstrated at Firebird's Australian Demonstration Plant in Western Australia.
Firebird plans to transition to its Australian Demonstration Plant to optimize LMR cathode materials for improved cycle life and commercial performance.
