Lithium Universe Limited (ASX: LU7) has announced significant progress in its Gold Copper Diamide Extraction (GCDE) technology, achieving gold purity of 97.04% from complex multi-metal chloride solutions. The technology demonstrated gold recovery exceeding 99%, showcasing its potential as a sustainable alternative to conventional solvent extraction methods. The GCDE process utilizes a proprietary diamide reagent that selectively precipitates gold, allowing for high selectivity and tunability by adjusting solution acidity. This enables sequential recovery of valuable metals, reducing reagent requirements and improving process economics. The technology also eliminates the need for organic solvents, simplifying the process flowsheet and reducing chemical consumption. The results validate the technology's commercial potential and mark a significant step towards pilot-scale demonstration and commercialization.
