Equus Energy Signs Gas Sales Agreement with Alcoa
- Equus Energy and Alcoa sign a 10-year Gas Sales Agreement
- Alcoa becomes Equus' foundation domestic gas customer
- Agreement supplies 50 TJ/day, ~5% of WA domestic gas market
- GSA supports up to US$30 million funding for Equus
- Agreement follows technical phase of Pre-FEED
Equus Energy has executed a binding conditional Gas Sales Agreement (GSA) with Alcoa of Australia, marking a significant commercial milestone for the Equus Gas Project. Under the agreement, Equus will supply approximately 50 TJ/day of gas to Alcoa for a 10-year period following project start-up, representing about 182 PJ over the contract term. This agreement not only establishes Alcoa as the project's foundation domestic gas customer but also forms part of a broader Gas Sales and Funding Agreement, providing Equus with access to up to US$30 million of project funding. This funding will support the advancement of the project through Pre-FEED, FEED, and toward a Final Investment Decision (FID). The GSA is a crucial step for Equus as it progresses toward commercializing the Equus Gas Project, which has the potential to strengthen energy security and diversify gas supply sources for Western Australia.
Equus Energy expects up to US$30 million in funding from Alcoa for the Equus Gas Project.
Equus Energy anticipates advancing the Equus Gas Project towards a Final Investment Decision (FID) with the support of the funding and commercialization activities facilitated by the GSA with Alcoa.
