Contact Energy has released its December 2024 operating report, providing an overview of the company's performance across its Customer and Wholesale business segments. In the Customer business, the company recorded mass market electricity and gas sales of 274GWh, compared to 279GWh in December 2023, with a mass market netback of $156.56/MWh (December 2023: $145.23/MWh). In the Wholesale business, contracted electricity sales, including that sold to the Customer business, totalled 699GWh (December 2023: 692GWh), with electricity and steam net revenue of $98.75/MWh (December 2023: $96.02/MWh). Electricity generated (or acquired) was 765GWh (December 2023: 692GWh), with a unit generation cost, including acquired generation, of $30.68/MWh (December 2023: $40.03/MWh). The company also provided updates on the progress of its Te Huka 3 and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, as well as information on hydro storage levels and wholesale electricity pricing.
