Quarterly Rebalance Shakes Up S&P/ASX Indices

The Australian equity market is in for a shake-up as S&P Dow Jones Indices announced the results of its March 2025 quarterly review. Effective prior to the open of trading on March 24th, the changes will see a host of additions and removals across the S&P/ASX 50, S&P/ASX 100, S&P/ASX 200, and S&P/ASX 300 indices.

While the blue-chip S&P/ASX 20 Index remains untouched, the S&P/ASX 50 will welcome Pro Medicus Limited and Sigma Healthcare Limited, bidding farewell to Mineral Resources Limited and Ramsay Health Care Limited. The S&P/ASX 100 will also see Sigma Healthcare Limited join the ranks, alongside Life360 Inc., as Iluka Resources Limited and NIB Holdings Limited make their exit.

The broader S&P/ASX 200 Index is in for a more significant reshuffle, with the addition of Capstone Copper Corp., DigiCo Infrastructure REIT, Imdex Limited, Macquarie Technology Group Limited, Nuix Limited, Spartan Resources Limited, and Temple & Webster Group Limited. Meanwhile, Audinate Group Limited, Collins Foods Limited, Charter Hall Social Infrastructure REIT, Coronado Global Resources Inc., Johns Lyng Group Limited, Kelsian Group Limited, and The Star Entertainment Group Limited will be removed.

The changes extend to the S&P/ASX 300 Index, which will see the addition of several companies, including Botanix Pharmaceuticals Limited, Catapult Group International Limited, and Myer Holdings Limited, among others. Conversely, Arafura Rare Earths Limited, Imugene Limited, and Syrah Resources Limited will no longer be part of the index.

Notably, the S&P/ASX All Technology Index will remain unchanged, maintaining its current composition.

These quarterly index adjustments are a testament to the dynamic nature of the Australian equity market, as companies rise and fall in their relative importance. Investors and market participants will need to stay on their toes to navigate the shifting landscape.
