- Focus on expanding operations in world's largest seaweed-producing market
- 550m² warehouse and onshore tanks operational for seaweed cultivation
BPH Global Ltd (ASX: BP8) has announced that it has made significant progress regarding its Indonesian-based seaweed operations. The company has completed the registration of its wholly owned subsidiary PT BPH Global Indonesia, which is headquartered in Jakarta and is responsible for the cultivation, purchase, and trading of seaweed, as well as the processing of seaweed to produce value-added products. The company has also obtained a lease of a 550m² warehouse in Makassar, South Sulawesi, a key seaweed processing hub, which has the capacity to hold up to 1,000 MT/month of raw seaweed. The facility is undergoing GMP and HACCP certification and will feature a full-fledged quality control laboratory, a hydraulic press for packaging and loading dried seaweed, and dedicated administration, quality control, and managerial teams. Additionally, BP8 Indonesia owns and operates onshore seaweed cultivation tanks for Ulva (Sea Lettuce) and Caulerpa (Sea Grapes) in the Takalar Regency of Indonesia, with a current capacity of 1 MT/month and plans for expansion. The company is actively collaborating with farmers and cooperatives across the archipelago to ensure a consistent year-round seaweed supply, and is in the advanced stages of negotiating the terms of offtake agreements with carrageenan and seaweed-based product manufacturers in China and Indonesia.
The expansion of BPH Global's seaweed operations in Indonesia will strengthen the company's global supply chain, revenue growth, and ESG positioning in the high-growth seaweed industry.
