Lakes Blue Energy has provided an update on the production testing of the Wombat-5 well in the Gippsland Basin, Victoria. The company has reported that gas has been observed in all zones, and substantial drilling fluid returns were evident during the blow down of the well. The drilling fluids are currently being cleared out with further nitrogen blow downs, and the Wombat-5 testing is ongoing. After opening all sliding sleeves and blowing down the wellbore with nitrogen, natural gas has been flowing to the flare stack. Gas flow has been observed from all zones, including below the lowest sliding sleeve, confirming that the lowermost sand package, below the twisted off bottom hole assembly, is contributing to the overall gas flow. Over the coming days, Lakes will continue with the recovery of drilling fluids from the reservoir formation sands to clean up the well prior to commencing measured flow periods and the collection of pressure build-up data.
