Galilee Energy Limited (ASX: GLL) has announced the commencement of site preparation activities for its Zydeco-1 well in Acadia Parish, Louisiana. These activities mark a significant milestone as the company transitions from planning and engineering into field execution. The site preparation includes the construction of the drilling pad, establishment of site access and supporting infrastructure, and completion of operational readiness activities ahead of the mobilization of RFC Drilling's Rig 103. The project is on schedule to spud in the 1st week of July 2026. The Zydeco-1 well targets up to 8 Bcf of gas and 0.5 MMbbl of condensate/oil across multiple reservoir targets. This project represents the first step in Galilee's strategy to build a scalable US Gulf Coast oil and gas business. Follow-on opportunities have already been identified, with final participation structures and funding arrangements expected to be formalized post success at Zydeco-1.
The company expects to progress towards rapid commercialization following a successful drilling outcome, with a pathway to first production within approximately six months.
